As I realize that other people want my life, I think about how I often want someone else's life, and it makes me wonder how many people in the world want to be someone else. It's an intense feeling to want to be someone other than yourself, and it can be overwhelmingly depressing. Unless, of course, you realize that you can be whatever you want to be. It's terribly hard, but it's possible. I'm slowly coming to this realization. This reminds me of the a line in the song Talk Show Host by Radiohead, "I want to be someone else, or I'll explode." There will always be people better of worse off in your eyes or others, and you must focus on your own position relative only to yourself. This reminds me of my favorite Radiohead quote that was on their website way back in the day, "There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow men -- true nobility is being superior to your former self." This is why I love Radiohead, they always hit my emotions on the head.
Listening to the song Given to Fly by Pearl Jam made me cry this afternoon. That was awesome.
Who wants a turkey sandwich and apple pie?
Me.
